Ted Siegel applies his more than three decades of experience in communications strategy, writing and editing, and project management to help organizations live their mission and realize their vision.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in both communications and mathematical computer science at Saint Louis University, and a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Ted joined the daily newspaper St. Louis Globe-Democrat as copy editor. A few years later, Ted transitioned to corporate communications. He served for several years as part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri and later Mercy Hospital St. Louis, providing internal and external communications services.
He joined the St. Louis-based Catholic hospital system Ascension Health in 2005 as Director of Communications. During his more than 18-year tenure, his responsibilities included producing the internal video news program "Inside Ascension Health," which in 2011 won a national Bronze Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America; and overseeing the implementation of Good Day Ascension, a multichannel internal communications strategy.
Ted was named national Editor of the Year for 2022 by PR Daily/Ragan Communications.
From newsletter and magazine stories, to white papers and case studies, to internal and external messaging, to video scripts, speechwriting, social media posts and more, Ted is adept at distilling complex information to make it relatable – and actionable – for audiences of all types.
Ted is unmatched in making content better. He approaches each editing task with not only a focus on grammar and style, but on improving clarity, brevity and readability. Named Editor of the Year by PR Daily/Ragan Communications for 2022, Ted has been a premiere copy editor for more than three decades.
Ted can coordinate all aspects of a communications project – helping establish objectives, strategizing to determine the best approaches for various audiences, developing tactics and deliverables, and reviewing outcomes and metrics.
I had the pleasure of working with Ted for six years. The speed and accuracy at which he could develop a meaningful message was awe-inspiring. He also managed and edited many of our high-profile communications with ease - coordinating and editing large, often complex communications on behalf of the entire team.

Ted is one of the best professional writers and editors that I have ever worked with in my 20-year career as a communicator. He will take mediocre copy and turn it into exactly what you need to meet your communications goals. He goes beyond what's on the page to inquire about your strategy and assist you in making your communications plan more effective. Plus, he delivers his insight in a helpful and productive manner.
